The mandate of Continuing Education is to educate people 19 years of age and older with the goal of having them achieve the B.C. Adult Graduation Diploma. Students can register on a continuous basis any month of the year. Courses are individualized or semi-independent in structure. Teachers are available in our learning centres to teach students one-on-one and in small groups. To begin, a person need only come in to write a placement test and then make an appointment with one of our academic advisors who will assess their basic math and English skills and, with the student, build a learning plan leading to graduation. For people who have not yet graduated from Grade 12, all courses are free. For graduated students, we ask a fee of $100.00 per course. All students pay a student registration fee of $10.00

Adult Graduation Diploma
To be eligible for the Adult Graduation Diploma, a person must be 19 years of age or older (or 18 years old and out of school for at least one year). Adult students must complete 20 credits by taking five (5) provincially authorized grade 11/12 courses. Three of these courses must be completed after enrolling in an Adult Graduation Program. Credit Counseling Society of BC +/-
This is not a local service, however there is a toll free number where credit counselors are available to discuss management of extreme debt-load. This is a non-profit charitable organization providing low cost confidential credit counseling. There is no cost for the initial session. Banks, credit unions, retailers, trust companies, finance companies and collection agencies pay most fees. They will also arrange debt retirement programs and usually handle the payments. Depending on the client's financial situation, they could be asked for a contribution towards ongoing counseling services. Approximately 20% of clients resolve their debt problems through a formal repayment program. All viable solutions are discussed in detail with the client and they will be informed of procedures and ramifications of implementing each one. Personal money management and budget counseling are provided to consumers who have made an assignment into bankruptcy.

Bridges Employment Program
The Bridges Employment Program is a 16 week pre-employment program for women who are on Income Assistance and are survivors of domestic abuse. The program runs Monday through Friday, 9:00am - 3:30pm. The program covers Life Skills topics and Employability Skills topics. Certificate training is available. Participants have the opportunity to work on their academic upgrading and participate in Work Experience through the Centre for Learning Alternatives. Participants receive a training allowance based on attendance. Those interested in the Bridges program must complete an application form and attend a screening interview. A referral from MEIA is also required.

The Smokehouse Kitchen Project is a six-month pre-employment/employment training program that offers cook 'Level One Curriculum". T.R.A.D.E.S. (Trade Referral Assessment and Direct Employment Strategy) We are a no fee Employment Assistance Service provider specializing in the trade sector. Services are available to unemployed and individuals working less than a 20 hr/week (part time). Our Trade Consultants and Facilitators are ticketed trades people with a minimum of one area of expertise-Trades Qualification (TQ) and employment counseling skills. Self Employment Benefit Program
The Self Employment Benefit Program (SEB) is a benefit available through Service Canada; Community Futures is the local delivery agent. If approved to the SEB program, a prospective entrepreneur can continue to receive benefits to a maximum of 52 weeks. To be eligible, the person must have an established EI claim, have had an established EI claim within the last three years or an established parental leave within the last five years. The program guidelines are reviewed at a program information session. Referral and a Return to Work Action Plan from an Employment Counselor are required prior to applying to the SEB program.Developmental Financing
Community Futures is a developmental lender. We offer developmental financing to businesses, up to $125, 000 and have the ability to lend as much as $500, 000. Future Cents is a pre-employment program for at-risk-youth aged 15-30. The youth participate in the program and receive a stipend based on minimum wage. The program supports work experience through hands-on learning by developing projects for their peer group, as well as personal development.
